The classic Action Force series two advert from Autumn 1983 introduced the Red Shadows, SAS Force and Z Force to an unsuspecting world.

Including the first teams to hit the shelves, the advert hit the gogglebox at the same time the first copies of Battle Action Force were available free in toyshops. Palitoy had clearly opted for shock and awe on the marketing front.

Best viewed on ITV as the children’s programming ended and the ever dramatic trailer for the News at 545 was played, we’re still waiting for ‘more news … as it happens’.

The Hero Project is an endeavor from Tucker and Wayne from Dynamo Development Labs.  The goal of these gentlemen is to fund a new action figure toyline, in the 8″ scale, pulling heroes from the annals of history. The Hero Project looks to earn some financial backing, enough to hopefully support this ambitious endeavor.

I will give my enthusiastic opinion on this project when I have a chance, but in the meantime here is a reblog.

My Sorceress/Fisto/Shadow Weaver shipment finally came. I nerdily documented it for  posterity. There’s lots of great stuff coming this year, but these are definitely some of the high points this year. It’s cool to get them all at the same time. 

My Glyos (Onell Design) figure builds. Part 4.

The Travellers are the good guys. The Gendrones are fighting for their freedom. The Sincroids are just plain bad. They are aliens that want nothing but power and chaos. Attacks on Glyan colonies are their main source of entertainment and this leads to many conflicts with the Travelers and the Glyan military.

These were a blast to make. I was able to take the extra heads from the Echo Morph figure, combine it with a bunch of clear purple and black Buildmen, mix in some Phase arm sets, Axis joint sets and some Callgrim Warp Gear. I obsessed over my parts choices until every character design was dynamic and balanced.

I feel I got an insect-like, evil look to them. I even painted in a few details here and there to make things pop.

This ends the posts on my Glyos collection for now. Hopefully I’ll have more to show soon. Matt and his crew have some intriguing looking releases lined up for a Friday drop. I still need a Glyan military presence in my collection, so this might be my chance!

My Glyos (Onell Design) figures builds. Part 3.

This is my Gendrone team. Artificial life is exploited and abused in throughout the Glyos System. Some of them manage to break free of their programming and fight back. 

One of my main drives in collecting is building teams (you’ll see this in my Cobra squads some day). Building Glyos is the perfect outlet for this compulsion because you can mix and match until each figure has a unique design but they all still retain a complementary aesthetic. 

I saved the best for last. Next up is my Sincroids.

This is my version of Callgrim. He’s another Traveller that is often seen working with Pheyden.

The makers of the Glyos figures have lots of little stories surrounding their figures. I take inspiration from those and come up with my own factions and teams.

Next up, the Gendrones, rogue AI systems that have reconfigured themselves into a varied and deadly strike team.

I only had a limited amount of parts to work with, so I’m pretty happy with the balance I was able to strike.

This is Pheyden. He’s a Glyan that has evolved beyond his humanoid form and become a Traveler (Galactic Protector).

His parner Callgrim is coming up in a future post as well as some other factions I’ve put together.

If you’re a toy fan you most likely know about the MOTUC that’s coming this year. But here at The Laird of Toy, we like to be thorough. I also feel that I kind of appeal to the casual toy fan. So here’s the goods!

Frosta is the one I’m actually looking forward to the most. Some other Princess of Power figures have left me a little cold (The Star Sisters), but Frosta here has a more mature design and a sculpt that breaks the mold a bit. The faces on MOTUC females have been a bit generic, but her’s has some real character.
